SwiftKey Neural Is Now Available For Download in the Google Play Store
A new version of SwiftKey for Android devices, SwiftKey Neural, is now available for download in the Google Play store. It's free but there are optional in-app purchases for themes and additional language support. While it's early in its development, SwiftKey Neural is a promising example of a technology that could become extremely important in the next few years.
Neural uses the phone's GPU to make predictions, making it more accurate than SwiftKey's personalized prediction engine. Unfortunately, Neural Alpha can't run on all phones, and the beta version is limited to Android devices. Even if it does run on your device, it's a bit more demanding than SwiftKey.
The new beta version of SwiftKey Neural is based on artificial intelligence technology developed by Google and Microsoft. It can predict language based on context cues and your last two words typed. As an added bonus, the beta version now includes support for three additional languages besides English, including German and French.
While SwiftKey is a popular keyboard for Android, the developers are working on an even better one. SwiftKey Neural Alpha uses neural networks, a kind of artificial intelligence that mimics the human brain. The result is an enhanced typing experience that's more intuitive and accurate than before. As a beta release, SwiftKey Neural Alpha is available on Android 4.4 KitKat.
